On the 23rd and 24th of March the academic staff of the University of Latvia (UL), the Faculty of Education, Psychology and art (FEPA) Lecturer Egija Laganovska and Assistant Professor Evija Latkovska together with the colleagues from Spain, Romania, Greece and the United Kingdom met in the seminar of KA2 – Cooperation for innovation and the exchange of good practices KA201 – Strategic Partnerships for school education project CREDIBLE (Children with Rare Diseases and their Inclusion in Basic Learning Environments). The seminar took place in Madrid, on the premises of FEDER (Spanish Federation of Rare Diseases).

The participants of the project discussed practical nuances on activating the performance of the project interactive platform (credible.softspring.cloud) – necessary cooperation with teachers, representatives of or organisations of rare diseases. The organisation responsible for the development of the platform is Softspring (Spain). The aim of the platform is to offer teachers the opportunity to share their pedagogical observations and examples of good practice in working with children with rare diseases. Moreover, it will be a place where questions can be asked and answers found if educators cannot find solutions on their own.

In the development process of the informative guide for teachers, the participants worked on the structure of the second part of the guide based on successful evaluation process of the first part of it. The aim of the guide is to illustrate pedagogical opportunities for including children with rare diseases in the educational process. The responsible project member organisations for the development of the guide are the University of Valencia (Spain) and the University of Latvia (Professor Indra Odiņa, Associate Professor Ieva Margeviča-Grinberga, Lecturer Egija Laganovska and Associate Professor Evija Latkovska).

Moreover, the participants added ideas to the structure and the content of the professional development course for the teachers working with students with rare diseases. The face-to-face course will take place on May 9-13 in Valencia (the University of Valencia), and later on it will be offered as a MOOC study course.

Experts from all the project member states and organisations hope that the intellectual outputs of the project will help teachers in their daily work with children with rare diseases and will help them communicate internationally giving a chance to share examples of good practice thus enriching their professional competence.
