From the 9th till the 13th of May, the academic staff of the University of Latvia (UL), the Faculty of Education, Psychology and art (FEPA) Professor Indra Odiņa and Assistant Professor Evija Latkovska together with the colleagues from Spain, Romania, Greece and the United Kingdom participated in the seminar series of KA2 – Cooperation for innovation and the exchange of good practices KA201 – Strategic Partnerships for school education project CREDIBLE (Children with Rare Diseases and their Inclusion in Basic Learning Environments). The seminar series took place in Spain, the University of Valencia.

The first two days of the seminar series were devoted to practical issues on the inclusion of children with rare diseases in the education process by taking a look at varied aspects of inclusive education from the perspective of the institutions and people involved (for example, organisations of rare diseases, teacher education programmes, families of children) and by presenting the intellectual outputs of the Credible project (the platform, the guide, the professional development programme for teachers).

On three other days, the participants of the seminar series worked on improving the professional development course for teachers. The work was managed by two young professionals Laia Riera and Jessica Stucki. They helped the participants of the seminar series to find out different cases of children with rare diseases who have their expectations, options and reality if they want to be included in a comprehensive school.

Experts from all the project member states and organisations hope that the intellectual outputs of the project will help teachers in their daily work with children with rare diseases and will help them communicate internationally giving a chance to share examples of good practice thus enriching their professional competence.
