In July 2022, the active phase of the research ended - data analysis of the research conducted by the "DiversAsia" project on the most current situation in the field of inclusive education in the higher education institutions of India and Bangladesh.

The study involved 362 respondents - educators and administrative staff from secondary and higher education in India and Bangladesh, who filled out a questionnaire and answered more than 36 questions, which were divided into 77 sub-criteria. With the help of the questionnaire, the education, experience and competence of the pedagogical and administrative staff in special and inclusive education were studied. Taking into account the population in India and Bangladesh, the authors of the study are aware that the obtained data are only a small insight into the current situation in these countries, but these data already allow us to draw conclusions and provide an idea of the necessary improvements in this area.

The data collected so far were presented at the annual conference of the European Teacher Education Association - ATEE "To Be, or Not to Be a Great Educator" in Riga on August 30, 2022. The project partners from the University of Latvia presented the data collected and obtained so far ""Inclusive HE in India and Bangladesh. What do we know so far?” in the "Innovations for teacher education" section of the conference.

One of the important tasks of the researchers in carrying out this study was to define and identify the maximum number of barriers in the field of inclusive education in order to determine the main obstacles to student enrollment and learning processes in higher education in the mentioned Asian countries. As a result, 10 basic problems were identified, starting with physical, ending with social and economic ones, which can become barriers for students with special or inclusive needs, for their successful integration in higher education institutions.

The full study will be published in the Proceedings of the ATEE 2022 Annual Conference in the Web of Science database and included in its core collection.
