Student teachers’ mobility during studies – the aim of the colleagues of the Univesity of Latvia and the University of Greifswald

On the 28th-30th of June, the academic staff of the Faculty of Education, Psychology and Art (FEPA) of the University of Latvia (UL) Evija Latkovska, Sandra Kalniņa and Anna Stavicka, as well as the professor Ilze Kangro welcomed guests from the University of Greifswald within the framework of the DAAD funded project ‘Lehram. International’ (‘Teaching. Internationally’).

The guests – the representative of the Rectorate Zuzanna Papierz, Dr.phil. Grzegorz Lisek and Managing Director of the Rectorate Thomas Jenssen – met directors of subprogrammes of the professional bachelor’s study programme ‘Teacher’: assisstant professor Inese Dudareva and scientific assisstant Ilva Cinīte (Teacher of Physics), lecturer Anita Auziņa (Teacher of English, Teacher of German), associate professor Māra Urdziņa-Deruma (Teacher of Design and Technologies) and professor Igors Koškins and assisstant professor Svetlana Pogodina (Teacher of Russian Language and Literature) to find out options for closer mobility opportunities for student teachers. Practicalities of student teachers’ mobility were highlighted by Coordinator of International Cooperation at FEPA Ms Alise Oļesika, and legal matters were emphasised by Head of International Relations Ms Alīne Gržibovska. Dr. Carola Häntsch from the Greifswald University joined the meeting online. Parallel to cooperation opportunities between both universities, the guests visited Āgenskalns elementary  school (principal Inese Kaķīte), Rīga State German gymnasium (principal Gundega Muceniece) and Rīga German School (principal Martin Farenfield) to get to know possible places for student teachers’ teaching practices. Additionally, Vineta Mihaļčuka kindly showed the guests the premises of the House of Science of UL in Torņkalns. All the involved representatives of both universities and schools will continue their work to achieve the aim of the project – more intense student teachers’ mobility.
