9 Students from India visit the University of Latvia

 

On 2nd May 2023, a team of 9 students of ERASMUS+EDUREFORM India visited Faculty of Education, Psychology and Art, University of Latvia. The day started with a warm welcome by Dr. Indra Odina, Dr. Anna Stavicka and their team. A brief introduction to the ERASMUS program and an outline of the “22nd International Student Research Conference “was given to the students, which was followed by a tour to the University of Latvia. Further, Students were given a brief overview of the different departments they visited.

Exploring the Old city of Riga

Indian team of ERASMUS+EDUREFORM students explored the historical and cultural dimensions of the town of the old Riga city. The beautiful architecture of Art Nouveau was admired by the students. In addition to this, they got a chance to witness the celebration of "Latvian National Day" and “The Statue of Liberty”. The alluring ancient buildings and churches were appreciated by the students and they were apprised with the history of old Riga. Further, visitors also relished Latvian cuisine at Latvian restaurants.

   

Learning Experience at the University of Latvia

On 8th May 2023, 9 students of ERASMUS +EDUREFORM team from India attended several lectures including Robotics, English and a cross-cultural group discussion. The session highlighted the inculcation of technology with education, teaching of culture through English language and a mutual gain on Latvia and Indian education system. The robotics session apprised the Indian students with a hands-on experience of using different types of robots in education at different grades and also demonstrated the pedagogy of Social Constructivism.

 

Teaching Experience in Latvian Schools

On 9th May 2023, 9 students of ERASMUS +EDUREFORM team from India visited Riga 92 Secondary School. Lectures were delivered to the students of Grade 10, 11 and 12 by Indian students on some of the contemporary topics like 17 Sustainable Development Goals, Ecology, Air Pollution and waste water treatment. It was a great learning platform as students also presented some highlights about Indian culture, traditions, customs, beliefs and education system which was followed by a traditional folk dance of India. The students of secondary school elaborated the tradition and culture of Latvia. There was a commendable cross-cultural experience gained by the school students and the staff. Furthermore, a tree plantation activity was done with 4th grade students.

On 10th May 2023, Indian ERASMUS +EDUREFORM team visited Marupes State Gymnasium for presenting lectures on Biology and English. Students and staff of Marupes State Gymnasium presented their traditional dance along with Indian students. Again, emphasis was given on exchanging cultural values and morals. It was a great opportunity for students to apprise with the cultural beliefs and traditions of both the nations.
