Learning at University of Latvia

On May 8, 2023, the Indian ERASMUS+EDUREFORM team visited the Faculty of Education, Psychology and Art, University of Latvia, to gain a hands-on experience on integrating robotics with education at different educational levels (Lecturer Mg. Normunds Pauders). Students were acquainted with educational system of Latvia through a group discussion with the students of University of Latvia. A lecture on “Teaching Culture Through English Language” was attended by the Indian students. It was an incredible exposure to the new modes of teaching and learning (Associate professor Ieva Margeviča- Grinberga).

On May 11, 2023, students got an opportunity to be the part of a lecture on English Phonetics and Phonology (Lecturer Mg. Anita Auzina). Two Indian PhD Students also delivered their presentation on the same topic. It was an insightful session to acquire knowledge of different phonetic sounds used across the world. The session was followed by a lecture on English grammar along with the students of University of Latvia (Lecturer Mg. Tatjana Bicjutko). In addition to this, there was an engaging session of Virtual reality, wherein Indian students experienced working with Virtual Reality by learning about various apps and tools (Anna Luize Bērziņa and Alic Camille Nicolas Merlivat). The session emphasized the integration of Virtual Reality with different types of subjects at school and university level.

 

Exploring the Museums of Riga

On May 13, 2023, Indian team of ERASMUS+EDUREFORM students were taken to a tour to the National History Museum of Latvia and the Museum of Natural History. Students were acquainted with the history, civilization, traditions, beliefs and biodiversity of Latvia. The beauty of ancient royal architecture was appreciated and admired by the India students. Students also got a chance to visit President’s Palace in Riga.

 

22nd International Students’ Research Conference and 14th International Week of Professors

From May 15 till May 18, 2023, 9 students of ERASMUS +EDUREFORM team from India attended the 22nd International Students’ Research Conference and 14th International Week of Professors. Students participated in the conference and were an integral part of this event. 229 presenters from 10 countries delivered 130 presentations. The main highlights of the conference were:

  • Acquaintance with various research methodologies.
  • Insight into the different horizons of research taking place in the field of Education.
  • Excursions to National Library of Latvia, University of Latvia House of Nature and House of Sciences, Museum of University of Latvia.
  • Meeting with the Dean of Faculty of Education, Psychology and Art, University of Latvia.
  • Successful presentations of their own research.

   

  

 

Visit to Liepaja

 On May 19, 2023, EDUREFORM Indian team went on an educational trip to Liepaja, along with professors of Faculty of Education, Psychology and Art, University of Latvia. Indian students were welcomed by the professors of Liepaja University. Students were fortunate to meet the Dean of the University, professor Linda Pavītola and shared their thoughts and expressed their gratitude. Some famous sightseeing of the Liepaja witnessed by the students includes – Northern Ports, St. Nicholas Church, Liepaja Northern Breakwater, Liepaja Beach, Concert Hall- Great Amber, Artillery Battery No.1 and Karosta Water Tower. This was followed by relishing amazing food of Liepaja. The trip was concluded by a visit to Liepaja Heritage to gain experience of ancient traditions, folk dance, lullabies and puppet shows of Latvia. It was amazing to be a part of this mobility programme.

“It was a great experience for all of us to attend phonetics and phonology lecture delivered by Lecturer Anita Auzina. Some insights of English spoken by Indians, its peculiarities, and intonations were shared by Mahsa Moshfegyan and Rekha Jadhawar. It was a great pleasure to join and observe the class with the group of Erasmus exchange students on "Grammar: Subjunctive Mood and Its Use in Communication" by Tatjana Bicjutko. Further, we enjoyed an awesome session on Virtual Reality by Anna Luīze Bērziņa and Alic Camille Nicolas Merlivat. The whole day was insightful” -  By: Rekha Jadhawar

"I learned about the need to inculcate robotics in the curriculum. It enhances the student’s learning and helps develop computer-based and technical skills in students. This was followed by a session on methodology of teaching English language by Lisa Brisbois and Evija Latkovska, we learnt about the effects that learning a new language can have on an individual. We also discussed the meanings that language carries and how a teacher can plan her lessons catering to include cultural diversity in a classroom. There was another fruitful interaction about Indian culture, Childcare traditions, education system, widely used languages in India and promoting their learning in schools by Ieva Margevica-Grinberga." -   By Bhawna Sharma
