Researchers of the Faculty of Pedagogy, Psychology and Art of the University of Latvia, prof. Linda Daniela and Miķelis Puķītis, in cooperation with colleagues from Türkiye, Greece, Romania, Lithuania and Bulgaria, have started participating in the ERASMUS+ strategic cooperation project "Teacher's Action for Health" (2022-1-TR01-KA220-SCH-000089892).

Aims of the project are to support teachers and educators to increase the knowledge, awareness, and experience of students who may need first aid intervention or emergency response in chronic diseases, by using digital education materials and to ensure the continuity of this knowledge and skills and to ensure the sustainability of teacher development with digital educational materials, with a particular focus on Continuing Professional Development (CPD) of preschool and primary school teachers on first aid interventions/practices through 13 modules and chronic illnesses through 8 modules prepared based on the needs determined by needs analysis.

Main planned outcomes for the project are:

  1. Supporting the professional development of early and primary school teachers on digital skills and intervention methods to first aid, and chronic illnesses.
  2. Developing school-based first aid modules and intervention in physical injury and some chronic diseases.
  3. Increasing institutional capacity and professionalism to work at EU/international level: enhanced management competencies and internationalization strategies. Extending the network of each partner to different new geographies and sectors.

The first face-to-face Transnational Project Partners meeting of our Erasmus+ KA220-SCH “Teachers’ Action for Health” project, was held on 11 May 2023 with the participation of partners from Türkiye, Romania, Lithuania, Latvia, Bulgaria, and Greece. In the morning session, the countries and institutions of the project partners were introduced. In the afternoon, we had a meeting with the District Governor of Çiğli, Mr. Adnan ÇAKIROĞLU, and we gave information about our project.

 
 

In the afternoon, a cultural trip to Izmir was organised.

 
 

Erasmus+ KA220-SCH “Teachers’ Action for Health” Project Launch took place on 12 May 2023 with the participation of the Çiğli District Director of National Education Mesut UĞURLU, District Protocol, and our other partners from Türkiye, Romania, Lithuania, Latvia, Bulgaria, and Greece.

 
 

In the afternoon, we worked on the project plan and scheduled activities. After the Certificate of Attendance Ceremony, the partners were bid farewell with good memories to their countries.

 

The target groups of the project are preschool and primary school teachers.
Project duration: 31.12.2022. – 30.12.2024.
